Christmas Tree Recycling--UPDATE
Posted Date: 12/27/2012

1/2/13 UPDATE:  Due to some holiday staffing issues and now frozen equipment issues, Waste Management is running behind in picking up Christmas trees. They are playing catch up this week and next. If you are concerned that you have been missed, please call Waste Management directly at 887-0402.

Carson City is pleased to once again offer Christmas Tree Recycling in cooperation with Capitol Sanitation/Waste Management, Inc.  Christmas trees can be placed curbside on your regular collection day or taken to one of the drop-off locations.  Trees will be recycled into woodchips at the Carson City Landfill and given to local residents free of charge.  This program continues to be a huge success.  Carson City would like to thank everyone for their participation.  Last year we were able to redirect 36-tons of wood waste from our landfill.

The dates for tree collection are:

Curbside collection will be from December 31st to January 4th on your regular trash dayIf trees are longer than six feet, please cut them up into sections no longer than six feet.

Drop boxes will be at the following locations -- from December 31st through January 4th only:

-  JC Penney Parking Lot
-  North Town Plaza/Near Bully's
-  Carson City Landfill, 3600 Flint Dr
-  Capital Sanitation, 5560 Sheep Dr
-  Between the Carson City Public Works Corporate Yard and Treatment Plant on Airport Rd (Previously Butti Way)

After January 4th please take your Christmas Tree to the Carson City Landfill for recycling.

Trees left curbside after January 4th will be disposed of as garbage and will need to be cut into three foot sections so they will fit into the Waste Management trucks.

Please Note:  Remove all decorations, lights, tinsel and bases from the trees.
