Senior Junk Haul - Again this year, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, the world’s largest junk removal service, is pleased to offer up to three bookings of junk removal per day, to elderly or disabled Carson City residents at no cost during Carson Pride Week, April 11-15, 2011.
Limited availability with certain restrictions and by appointment only. Call 887-8898 and follow recorded instructions carefully to apply for a pick-up time by their friendly, uniformed crews (this program fills up fast and not all callers can be serviced at no cost). 1-800-GOT-JUNK? offers senior discounts all year long for their regular junk and debris removal service to anyone not able to take advantage of this program.
Carson City Landfill - Open FREE to Carson City residents only on April 15, 16, 22 and 23, 2011. Stop putting it off! Pick it up, and haul it to the landfill while it’s free! Please remember: NO commercial loads. Also, the landfill accepts recycled items for drop off including car batteries, waste oil and antifreeze up to five gallons. Tires will be limited to four tires during this free disposal period. For additional information, call 882-6066 or 887-2355.
Carson City Street Operations Pickup - Please call 887-2355 during the week of April 4 - April 8, 2011, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., to be placed on the list for pickup. Carson City Street Operations will pick up bundled yard waste in the Carson City urban area that is placed at curbside from Monday, April 11 through Thursday, April 14, 2011, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This service is FREE for those on the pickup list. Please, garden debris only, no furniture, appliances or lumber. No ash or burned materials. Tree limbs must be in bundles no longer than 6 feet and no larger than 4" in diameter. Bags and bundles cannot exceed 60 pounds each or they will not be picked up.
Wreck Riddance - Get rid of that piece of junk sitting out in your yard or property! This is your chance to have someone else do FOR YOU and AT NO CHARGE! Pick-N-Pull will tow away any old vehicles to the salvage yard for FREE as long as the VIN number is visible, and the property owner signs a release or a title. Call Pick-N-Pull at 882-7772. Recycling - Support your planet--RECYCLE! Take your cans, glass, newspapers, cardboard and plastic for recycling to the Carson City Landfill Recycling Center. Take any reusable items to Carson City Senior Citizen Thrift Store, F.I.S.H., OARC, Classy Seconds or the Salvation Army. Remember — REUSE, RECYCLE!
Household Hazardous Waste - If you have pesticides, herbicides, paints, old gasoline, etc., you need to dispose of, please call to schedule an appointment. Disposal appointments are required and can be made by calling 887-2355. This free year-round program is provided to Carson City residents only. You must call for an appointment. Sorry, no appointments can be given during Carson Pride Week.
Open Burn - The Carson City Fire Department will allow an open burning period from March 26 through April 24, 2011. For Carson City residents wishing to burn, you must obtain a burn permit from one of the fire stations or online at http://www.carson.org/Index.aspx?page=268. Permission to burn is revocable at any time due to weather conditions or fire restrictions. For more information, call 887-2210 ext. 2.
