The mission of the men and women of the Carson City Fire Department is to serve the community with pride, commitment, and compassion. The Carson City Fire Department is comprised of six divisions which contribute to the safe community we enjoy. We serve the community in many different ways, including emergency situation management such as fires and medical services. Personnel receive continuous ongoing training to keep them abreast of every nuance in all areas, including fire and emergency medical service, hazardous materials, confined space rescue, fire prevention, aircraft fire rescue, and others. In addition, the fire department as a whole is involved in many programs.

In addition, the fire department as a whole is involved in many public contact programs such as fire extinguisher classes in businesses and homes, station tours, fire prevention programs in the schools, job shadow program for schools, school-to-careers program for schools, public fire education with firefighters, TRIAD, life safety fire inspections of businesses, senior fire safety classes, the Chamber of Commerce Leadership program, education for defensible space in wildland urban interface areas, a ride-a-long program, and paramedic demonstrations for schools.
