Lieutenant Brian Humphrey
Carson City Sheriff’s Office
Investigation Division

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has issued an updated press release to the investigation of threats made to a Carson City Justice of the Peace and placement of an incendiary device.

$5,000 Reward: Detectives Seek Information on Threats to a Justice of the Peace and to an Incendiary Device left at the residence of the Judge.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Nevada Division of Investigations announce a new $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the person(s) responsible for placing and igniting an incendiary device next to a private residence belonging to Justice of the Peace, John Tatro. This is one of three incidents that have involved the Judge since 2012.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION

Based on information provided by the public following the initial press release, The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has identified the unknown suspect(s) vehicle in the incendiary device investigation as a gold or similar color 1980 to 1990 Mercedes-Benz four door sedan. No other vehicle information is available at this time.

THREATENING CHRISTMAS CARD

In December 2014, Judge Tatro and his wife received a Christmas card addressed to his home with the words “You Will Die” written in it. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has released a photograph of the Christmas card envelope in hopes of identifying the sender. The name of the sender was listed as Jake Jacobsen. Detectives believe Jake Jacobsen is a fake name.

The author of the envelope has a unique style of handwriting and the envelope is addressed in a unique way. The photograph of the envelope has been released in hopes that someone will recognize the style of writing or address. Both the addresses on the envelope had the address numbers followed by a hyphen and then the street name, such as the following example:

John Doe
123-Maine St.
Anytown, Nevada 89701
