The Treasurer is an elected official who fulfills the duties outlined in Chapter 249 of the Nevada Revised Statutes and Section 3.045 of the Carson City Charter.
The primary function of the Treasurer's Office is the billing and collection of real property taxes and special assessments. The Treasurer's Office collects City revenues, keeps a record of the cash balance and reconciles it with the Finance Department's records on a monthly basis. In addition, the Treasurer's Office administers the City's banking relations and makes investments with the City's surplus funds.
The Treasurer establishes the investment policy which is reviewed by the Board of Supervisors on an annual basis. Staff of the Carson City Treasurer's Office strive to perform these duties in such a manner as to demonstrate not only technical competence but also the utmost respect for the community members they serve.
Gayle Robertson was appointed as the Carson City Treasurer in April of 2015 and elected as the Treasurer in November of 2016. Prior to the position Gayle spent most of her career in public accounting. She graduated from University of California at Davis with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and has been a certified Public Accountant since June of 1978. Gayle recently completed the Certified Government Investment Professional (CGIP) program which guides critical professional development for guardians of taxpayers’ monies.
