Neil A. Rombardo

 

Neil Rombardo was elected as Carson City District Attorney in 2006.  A major policy of his administration is to create a safer Carson City by adopting a zero tolerance policy for drug dealers and to establish prevention policies to prevent young children and adults from ever using illegal drugs.  The administration is also dedicated to protecting victims and their families as well as ensuring  that child support obligations are shared by both parents,

Neil previously worked for the Office of the Nevada Attorney General as a Senior Deputy Attorney General. While at the Attorney General’s Office, Neil enforced Nevada’s Open Meeting Law for the entire state of Nevada. He also represented the Nevada Commission on Ethics and prosecuted securities fraud crimes as well as deceptive trade practice acts.

Prior to the Attorney General's Office, Neil was a deputy district attorney for the civil division of the Carson City District Attorney's Office.  During this time, Neil represented the Board of Supervisors, the Planning Commission, the Redevelopment Authority/Agency, Human Resources and the Planning Department.  Neil represented Carson City in the land deal and negotiations that brought Costco to Carson City.  He also assisted with the rewrite of Carson City's zoning laws.

Neil began his legal career as a prosecutor for the Reno City Attorney's Office.  As a deputy city attorney he prosecuted DUI, domestic battery, stalking and other misdemeanor offenses.

Neil has two children.  He enjoys spending time with his family and the outdoors golfing, fishing and hiking.

Neil received his law degree in 1998 from Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University and his undergraduate degree in economics with a minor in political science from California State University, San Marcos in 1995.
