A. Call to Order and Determination of Quorum
B. Action on Approval of Minutes
C. Modification of Agenda: This is the tentative schedule for the meeting. The Historic Resources Commission reserves the right to take items in a different order to accomplish business in the most efficient manner.
D. Disclosures: Any members of the Commission that may wish to explain any contact with the public regarding an item on the agenda or business of the Commission.
E. Public Comments: Members of the public who wish to address the Commission may speak on matters related to the Historic Resources Commission. Comments are limited to three minutes per person. If your item requires extended discussion, please request the chairman to calendar the matter for a future meeting. No action may be taken on a matter raised under this item of the agenda until the matter itself has been specifically included on an agenda as an item upon which action may be taken.
F. Public Hearing Matters
F-1 HRC-10-099 Action to consider a request from Mark Games (property owner: C & A Investments, LLC) to demolish and remove an existing cabin/shed on east side of property; to demolish and remove a garage structure on south side of property, leaving the main structure intact, on property zoned Residential Office (RO), located at 913 B North Nevada Street, APN 001-187-01. Staff Summary: The applicant is requesting demolition of the cabin/shed and the garage structure on site. Both structures as noted by the applicant are in poor condition and for safety purposes are in need of demolition. The primary structure and existing landscaping on site is not a part of the proposed demolition application.
F-2 HRC-10-100 Action to consider a request from property owners Ed and Cathy Smith to remodel existing front porch; the existing concrete slab is to be covered by a redwood porch deck on property zoned Single Family 6000 (SF6), located at 701 Elizabeth Street, APN 003-273-04. (Jennifer Pruitt)
Staff Summary: The applicant is proposing to replace the existing “Veranda” style porch with a “cross gable” style porch structure. The proposed porch will be more functional and will provide an emphasis on the front of the existing single family dwelling unit as a focal point of the property.
F-3 HRC-10-101 Action to consider a request from John P Copoulos (property owners: Brewery Arts Center (BAC) and Carson City Parks Division) for street closure and to abandon the public right of way of a portion of Minnesota Street between King Street and Second Street located between properties zoned Public Regional (PR), located at West King Street and 449 West King Street, APNs 003-207-04 and 003-206-02. Staff Summary: The applicant has submitted a conceptual plan for the Brewery Arts Center street closure. At this time the HRC will review the proposed conceptual plan associated with the Brewery Arts Center campus. The right of way abandonment will allow the BAC to achieve the goals associated the BAC campus master plan.
F-4 HRC-10-102 Action to consider a request from Al Salzano (property owner: Herman Bauer) to demolish the existing single family residence, carriage house, and shed for replacement with 8-unit apartment complex, on property zoned Residential Office (RO), located at 812 North Division Street, APN 001-191-06. Staff Summary: The property owners are requesting the demolition of the existing single family residence. The single family residence has been unoccupied for years, is in poor condition, and has been owned by the current property owner for approximately one year. At this time, the property owner is also requesting to allow the construction of a new multi family apartment project of two two-story, four-plex buildings in a Bungalow/Craftsman style to blend in with the historical characteristics of the area.
F-5 HRC-10-004 Discussion only regarding an update of the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) grant for 2010. (Jennifer Pruitt)
Staff summary: Planning Division staff will provide the HRC and the general public with an update of the 2010 Historic Preservation Fund grant # 32-10-21935(1).
F-6 Discussion and possible action to consider future Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) grants for 2011.
Staff summary: This item will allow the HRC to select which projects will be applied for in the submittal of the 2011 HPF grant application for the City of Carson City.

G-1 - Commissioner reports/comments
- Planning Division staff report to the Historic Resources Commission. (Jennifer Pruitt)
- Future agenda items: Discussion and action to elect a Historic Resources Commission Chairman and Vice Chairman for the period February 2011 to January
2012; Action to approve the Historic Resources Commission Annual Report as required by the Historic Resources Commission Policy and Procedure Manual.
