Would you like to be on a team dedicated to helping first responders in a crisis?
The Carson City Fire Department is offering special training to its residents to support emergency preparedness and increase citizen involvement in the community response. The program Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), utilizes Carson City Fire Department and Other supporting agencies to prepare citizens for all kinds of emergencies and to aid local emergency services in the event of a disaster in their community. CERT members
will be trained and certified in disaster preparedness, fire suppression, emergency operations, search and rescue techniques, and response to terrorism. The CERT program is a part of a nation wide effort to empower citizens in preparedness and response to major emergencies.
In as little as two weeks you will learn what to expect in the event of an emergency or major disaster. Become trained in necessary life-saving and decision-making skills in order to decrease injury and mortality. Help organize teams of citizens who will offer help until professional life support services arrive. Collect disaster intelligence for use by professional responders.
