River Float & Cottonwood Wrapping

06.01.2019

     10 AM-    2 PM

Ambrose Open Space

Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space invites residents in Carson City to come float the Carson River and wrap cottonwoods. On June 1st, 2019  at Ambrose Open Space.

Ambrose Open Space Address:  281-309 N Deer Run Rd, Carson City, NV 89701

10:00 AM- 11:30 AM: Cottonwood Wrapping at Ambrose Open Space.

12:00- 1:30/2:00 PM: River Float beginning at East Silver Saddle Ranch

You must be 18+ years of age and older for you to participate in this event.

A van will be provided to shuttle people from Ambrose Open Space to East Silver Saddle Ranch, where the float will begin. We will pull out at Ambrose Open Space.

We will be floating a 3 mile section of the river. This section of river is classified as a Class I rapid, which means small waves occur and there are no obstacles.

Our raft guides will be providing the life jackets, paddles and helmets for this event. Please bring water, sunscreen, snacks and clothes you can get wet in and plan on 1- 1 1/2 hours for rafting this portion of river.

The Volunteer Coordinator from Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space is collaborating with Lynn Zong, who is an experienced volunteer raft guide, to lead this trip. She will have other experienced volunteer raft guides assisting her on that day.

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space department will provide all the supplies necessary for wrapping cottonwoods and lesson on the importance of cottonwood wrapping. Please anticipate spending 1- 1 1/2 hours wrapping cottonwoods.

We would recommend a change of dry clothes.

Due to limited seating in the rafts, participants must register. Please go to : https://signup.com/go/OVUHOTV to sign-up.
