The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Skiing is Believing to offer a variety of mountain bike clinics. All clinics are located at the trails behind Western Nevada College. For more information and to register, visit: skiingisbelieving.org

Summit Camp: Ages 8-18

Cost: $300

AM session: 9 AM - 12 PM

PM session: 4 PM - 7 PM

All sessions are three weeks long, recurring on the same day, time & at the same location.

SESSION 1: Sundays, 10/6 - 10/20 - Western Nevada College - AM

A three-week mountain bike program focusing on introductory to intermediate level mountain bike skills through a series of skills, drills and progressions under the guise of BICP certified bike coaches. Intended to hone skills and technique on the bike so you can hit the mountain biking trails full throttle! The program focuses on mountain bike skills and development through guided practice and real-life application. This program is intended for boys and girls who wish to take their mountain bike skills to a more intermediate or even advanced level while gaining more confidence and having fun!

Downhill Devils: Ages 10-18

Cost: $300

AM sessions are 9 AM - 12 PM

PM sessions are 4 PM - 7 PM

All sessions are three weeks long, recurring on the same day, time & at the same location.

SESSION 1: Saturdays, 9/7 - 9/21 - Western Nevada College - AM

An advanced three-week mountain bike program with certified BICP coaches meant to improve and perfect the downhill skills and techniques of youth riders who are already skilled and confident on their mountain bikes. In order to participate in this program, riders must be able to climb comfortably and already ride Intermediate trails. Over the course of this three-week progressive clinic athletes will focus on improving existing skills and use drills, and progressions to increase their skill level across all-terrain on their mountain bikes. Riders will not just learn the basics but master them and learn new tricks to become an even better rider with Downhill Devils!

CLINIC 2: Sunday, 10/27 - Western Nevada College - AM

During this one-day mountain bike program, women will learn, practice and be introduced to the skills and positions that will make them a better more confident rider. Attendees will learn from an all-female BICP-certified bike staff, while surrounded by other supportive women who also want to improve their skills on two wheels. Learn the fundamentals or improve what you already know on the extensive trail systems in Carson City. Women will learn and practice proper body position, bike mechanics, technique & tactics to tear down and across the mountain confidently like the bad boss that you are! Progressions will be introduced to enable female athletes to both learn and practice under the guise of expert female riders. This clinic is available for women of all skill levels and will be catered to varying abilities if needed. This clinic is a one-day version of our longer 3-week progressive sessions.

A one-day clinic for women focused on improving fundamental skills on the mtn bike and taking them to the next level! Riders will learn from an all-female BICP-certified bike staff, while surrounded by other supportive women who also want to take their skills on two wheels to the next level. Improve upon your fundamentals while working on the proper technique and bike/body positions for jumps, drops and more technically advanced trails. Attendees will also learn to break down the best line choice through rock gardens and technical sections. All drills, skills and movements practiced in this course will help women who already feel fairly confident on their bike on beginner trails learn to have that same confidence on intermediate and advanced trails.

 

Skate to Ski Youth: Ages 8-18

AM sessions are 9 am - 11 am

PM sessions are 3 pm - 5 pm

All sessions are four weeks long, recurring on the same day, time & at the same location. Choose your session based on date & preferred time.

 

SESSION 1: Sundays -9/8-9/29 -Western Nevada College - PM

SESSION 2: Saturdays 10/5-10/26- -Western Nevada College - PM

SESSION 3: Sundays -10/6-10/27- Western Nevada College - AM

 

A four-week inline skating program preparing youth with exercises and progressions specifically geared to improve their alpine skiing while also improving their skills & fitness on skates, all while having fun! The skills required for skating are extremely similar and applicable to alpine skiing. Proficiency in one lends to the other. This program is a transfer learning program geared toward improving ones skating ability to become a better skier. Drills, skills and LOTS of games will be introduced and practiced to improve skate techniques that have direct application to snow. Additionally, students will also learn how to skate to improve their general fitness and aerobic capacity. This Skate to Ski program is supported by Rollerblade and endorsed & taught by their Skate to Ski program and ambassadors.

Drills and skills will be coached to improve skate techniques that have direct application to snow. Additionally, students will also learn how to skate to improve their general fitness and aerobic capacity.
