Summer Youth Program

Camp Carson is a summer program full of fun and education activities that will keep your children entertained throughout the workday. The program runs Monday-Friday from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm but you can drop-off and pick up your kids any time during the scheduled program. Throughout the week, campers will participate in STEAM activities, art, cooking, crafts, swimming, guest speakers, free time, and field trips.

Campers will be divided up by age groups with scheduled activities appropriate for their age group. Additionally, each age group will have a special program they will [participate in for 1-2 hours per week throughout the summer. 

Kinder Camp - PBS Afterschool Adventure: This is 
collection of multi-media activities that includes
characters from your favorite PBS KIDS shows.

Pioneers (2nd Grade)- CATCH: Stands for a Coordinated 
Approach to Child Health. This program unites multiple players
in a child's life to create a community of health, introducing fun
activities that teach the value of a healthy and active life. 

Wagoneers (1st grade)- Character Counts: This program
 has fun games and activities that instill critical, academic,
social and emotional skills, as well as core character traits

 

Explorers (3rd grade)- NRPA Wildlife ExplorersThis program
comes from the NRPA (National Recreation and Parks
Association). This initiative connects youth to nature through a
variety of nature-based games and activities, while completing
their Wildlife Explorer Workbook. 

Mountaineers- E-STEM: This program
provided by the Energy Coalition (TEC) helps children
create an abundant and healthy world by inspiring
other to become energy architects of our sustainable future.



 

Trailblazers (5th & 6th Grades) - Camp Quest: This
program designed by Carson City Parks and Recreation
teaches the value of nature and being active in the outdoors.
Each week, Trailblazers will participate in a local outdoor activity
such as hiking, biking, or fishing, often aided by groups such as the
Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Swim lessons
All campers have the ability to participate in swim lessons while attending camp. Swim lessons will be offered at a special time specific to Camp Carson campers. Don't worry about getting your kids to swim lessons, camp staff will take care of that for you. Additional fee and registration required.

Field Trips
Campers will have the ability to participate in two types of fields trips: local and regional. Local field trips will be to locations around Carson City such as local parks and are included in registration. Regional field trips charter school buses and takes campers to locations in Reno, Tahoe, or Douglass County for the majority of the day, Regional field trips are optional and require registration and additional fees. Fees vary depending on the field trip.

Registration for programs is online at www.carson.org/ccpr with easy 24/7 access.

Any participant who desires to enroll in a program that is full may place their name on the waiting list. There are no guarantees for placement.  The waiting list is compiled on a first-come, first served basis. 

Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space are working with Children’s Cabinet to offer new Child Care Provider Subsidy.
Once the application is filled out correctly and completed, you can send it by mail or drop off at 2527 N. Carson St, Ste 255 Carson City, NV 89706, fax - 775-887-1365, or email at subsidy@childrenscabinet.org.  Once Children's Cabinet receives your application, you will be notified if you are eligible for a subsidy.
